About Mobility Support Systems, LLC (MSS)™

All of the organizing members of MSS™ have a long term commitment to the disability community and combined experience of almost 100 years of working with this population. They are dedicated advocates with a strong desire to assist individuals who experience disabilities and their families with every day needs often taken for granted by those who do not experience disability.

Mike Harris - President
Mike has spent the past 20 years in the Mobility Industry. In 1978, his brother was killed on a ski trip in Colorado. His family was propelled to “make a difference” in his brother’s memory. As a result, an accessible van company was born and today it is known as Rollx Vans. In 1991, Mike graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth with a B.A. in Business/Economics and Marketing. Since 1986, Mike has worked in the family business. Today, he is the President and Owner of Rollx Vans. Mike volunteers on the Dakota and Scott County Workforce Investment Board, at Camp Courage, the MS Society and the MDA. He is on the Board of the Dakota County Technical College Foundation Fund and Tee it up for the Troops.

Cathy Breneman – Director of Development and Client Relations
Cathy is a registered nurse and has worked in many areas that include emergency, critical care and rehabilitation medicine. In 1992, she discovered her commitment to working with individuals who experience disabilities. Cathy has worked in many roles in the health care field including the Director of Nursing, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at three different rehabilitation programs. She isa certified brain injury specialist and has worked with the Michigan Brain Injury Association to train individuals on how to treat and care for people who have been catastrophically injured. Cathy is board certified as a Life Care Planner. She actively participates in planning life long care for the catastrophically injured individual as well as supportive care for the family. She is also a certified MSCC (Medicare Setaside Consultant Certified) and a certified wound care specialist (WCC). Cathy has been a part of the Michigan Brain Injury Provider Council, the Michigan Brain Injury Association, the Brain Injury Association of America, the International Association for Rehabilitation Professionals, the Case Management Society of America and the Foundation for Life Care Planning. She has published articles in both local and national brain injury publications as well as authored and photographed a brochure for a small brain injury rehabilitation facility in Michigan.

Bill Dussault - Founder
Is an attorney licensed in the States of Washington and Colorado. For the past 35 years his practice emphasis has been on the rights of persons with disabilities. He wrote the first Special Education Law in the country in 1971 as a second year law school student. He is actively involved with numerous state and national groups concerned with legal issues impacting persons with disabilities. He has served as counsel to The Association for the Severely Handicapped (TASH), was Vice-Chair of the American Bar Association Family Law Committee on Mental Disability, and is counsel to the Washington Association for Persons with Disabilities. He served as a member and Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Brain Injury Association of America (formerly the National Head Injury Foundation) for six years, and is a past-President of the Washington Chapter of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). Mr. Dussault served as an adjunct professor at the University of Washington School of Law and the U.W. School of Nursing on Nursing, Law and Ethics. He has served as a legal advisor to the National Association for Retarded Citizens (NARC), the Autism Society of America (ASA), the Epilepsy Foundation of America, and numerous state advocacy organizations including those representing seniors who experience Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. He was the originator of the Special Needs Trust used in personal injury, elder law, estate and Medicaid planning for the elderly and the disabled.

Kate Dussault - Founder
Kate began her career working with individuals with disabilities in 1986 when her brother acquired a severe traumatic brain injury. She has over 18 years experience in settlement planning and private resource/public benefit coordination as a trustee, case manager, and public benefit compliance consultant. Her unique personal and professional experiences provide a wide range of expertise to serving individuals who experience disability and their family members. Her goal in establishing Mobility Support Systems, LLC is to educate consumers and professionals on accessible vehicle safety and proper selection as well as provide a wide range of value added services as cost effectively as possible. She has presented to the International Association for Rehabilitation Professionals, Stetson School of Law, and the Academy for Special Needs Planners on accessible vehicle safety and distribution issues. She has also provided several webcasts and in-services on accessible vehicle safety, selection and distributions to national case management firms and corporate special needs trust administrators. She has spoken at several continuing education seminars for personal injury attorneys’ including the National Brain Injury Association Conference for Attorneys and several State Trial Lawyers Conferences. She has presented at the National Life Care Planning Conference, and various State sponsored programs. She has served on several boards during her career including: Colorado Citizens’ for Accountability, Colorado Brain Injury Fund Raising and Legislative Committee, Jefferson County Department of Social Services Single Entry Point Advisory Board, Living from the Heart a non-profit agency providing recreational opportunities for individuals who experience disabilities. In addition to her continued consulting role with Mobility Support Systems, LLC, she acts as a consultant to attorneys, trustees and individuals who experience disabilities and their families regarding public benefit planning, Special Needs Trusts implementation and management, and a variety of other issues which affect persons with disabilities and their family members.
